The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) has a large distribution across the Americas, from southern Canada to Peru. A highly adaptable species, the white-tailed deer occupies a wide range of habitats and feeds on a large variety of different plants. Young whitetail deer are born with white spots which disappear at around three to four months of age.
