The Sri Lankan Elephant (Elephas maximus maximus) is a subspecies of Asian Elephant native to Asia. They have greyish-brown skin (often with tan patches on the bases of their trunks, big ears, long tails, long legs, long sharp tusks in bulls, and long prehensile trunks.

Sri Lankan elephants can live up to 80 years in the wild. Up to 40 years in captivity.

Enemies[]
Bengal tigers, mugger crocodiles and Indian wolves hunt calves, but the latter doesn't attack adults very frequently.
Controversies[]
Some tourist shows and circuses treat their elephants very, very badly. They often force them to carry tourists or swim for entertainment, but if they do not cooperate, they get hit by bullhooks.
