The King Cheetah is a rare, but proven variation of the standard African Cheetah. It is marked by a pattern of spots, much like the more common variety, however these spots are much thicker and darker, and are sometimes connected in horizontal rows to form long stripes. This, along with a slight difference in the shade of yellow on the main coat, once convinced onlookers that the King Cheetah was a separate subspecies.
