The European fallow deer also known as fallow deer (Dama dama) is a species of ruminant mammal belonging to the family Cervidae. Much variation occurs in the coat color of the species. Male fallow deer are highly competitive during the rutting season; successful mating depends mainly on body size and dominance rank.
