Monitor lizards are large lizards with long muzzles, sharklike teeth, big muscular tails, four legs with long sharp claws, and paralyzing bites. They live in Africa, Asia, and Australia. They include the Nile monitor, the Asian water monitor, and the Komodo dragon.
